WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • The Aircraft Structures Technician plays a vital role in supporting avionics modification programs through expert-level maintenance, fabrication, and installation of aircraft structural and sheet metal components. This hands-on position requires technical precision, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to perform structural repairs and installations safely and efficiently. You will:
    • Fabricate aircraft sheet metal components using blueprints, sketches, service bulletins, OEM specifications, and engineering orders.
    • Calculate bend allowances, diameters, and angles to accurately form and shape parts.
    • Inspect, analyze, and repair aircraft structural components to meet airworthiness standards.
    • Drill, ream, countersink, and prepare structural components for installation.
    • Perform riveting and other aircraft fastening methods to a high structural standard.
    • Install fabricated or repaired sheet metal components on aircraft undergoing avionics modifications.
    • Assist avionics teams by routing wires, removing structures, and prepping work areas for modification activities.
    • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, aircraft maintenance manuals, L2 Aviation RSQCM, and approved technical documentation.
    • Construct jigs, dollies, and special tools needed for structural fabrication or repair.
    • Research and identify structural solutions to meet engineering objectives.
    • Maintain awareness of program schedules and proactively report any risks or delays to leadership.
    • Provide accurate documentation, component removal forms, and status updates to Program Management and Quality.
    • Maintain full compliance with internal and FAA inspection requirements.
    • Adhere to all safety, tool control, and documentation standards.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all locations.
    • Work closely with RAMS Leads, Quality Inspectors, aerospace engineers, and customer engineering teams.
    • Maintain a professional, positive relationship with colleagues and customers.

WHAT YOU BRING:

    • Minimum 6 years of aerospace sheet metal/structures experience in commercial or military aviation.
    • Military aircraft structural repair background highly preferred.
    • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering documentation, and maintenance manuals.

    • Ability to lift, bend, drill, rivet, climb, and work in confined spaces or at varying heights.
    • Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug testing and any applicable company/FAA Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program that may be required.
    • Must be able to pass required background checks, including a 10-year TSA check if airport access or badging is required.
