What you can expect as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at West Star:
Whether you are replacing or repairing parts, troubleshooting electrical/mechanical/hydraulic and pneumatic systems or performing inspections on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world, no day is the same. What is the same, is that each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth.
You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components,
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving aircraft system/component issues
  • De-fueling aircraft,
  • Engine removal/installations,
  • Operating ground support equipment,
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/ taxiing
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
  • Immediately notify the Lead Mechanic of any problem areas such as parts, materials, workmanship, or airworthiness issues.
  • Provides the Lead Mechanic with a detailed report of work progression and open items to be included in the shift turnover log
  • Proper tagging of Aircraft components, parts, and panels appropriately stored including racks by aircraft.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts including, nights, holidays, weekends and days off.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

What you'll need to bring with you:
Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal
Your Initiative:
We're looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.
Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements
Lifts 70 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 ft. in the air) using fall protection safety gear
Work in small, restricted areas
Standing for long periods of time.
Mental Requirements
Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
Work with others in a professional manner.
Supervision
Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.
May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
