Job description

If you are a seasoned aircraft inspection professional with Nondestructive Testing (NDT) qualifications looking for a new challenge, we have an opportunity for you! Join Straight Flight as Aircraft NDT Inspector IV, you will be using your skills and expertise to inspect our customer's aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment, and components to ensure airworthiness and conformance to the manufacturer's specifications and government regulations. You'll be responsible for identifying any breach of standards for airworthiness. Your inspection authority will include all in-process inspections, final inspections of all work and approval for Return to Service (RTS). You will be responsible for maintaining inspection standards, methods and procedures in accordance with the 145 Repair Station Manual and applicable regulations (FAA & EASA). You'll certify aircraft airworthiness after inspection and ensure that all inspections with regard to maintenance and aircraft modifications are performed to the highest standards of workmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee complex aircraft inspections.
  • Develop and implement inspection protocols.
  • Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of findings.
  • Address and resolve significant compliance issues.
  • Lead training and mentorship programs for junior inspectors.
  • Conduct periodic audits of maintenance processes.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typically 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • No prior FAA violations
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work location
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment, and components.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment and parts.
  • Understanding and experience with the practical application of product audit and inspection processes and procedures.
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Typically, 7+ years in a 145 Repair Station environment.
  • Ability to understand and interpretcomplex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) Designation
  • Ability to obtain a repairman Certification
  • Basic understanding of 14 CFR Chapter 1
  • Experience with Corridor ERP software
  • Computerized maintenance tracking system experience, (CAMP, Traxall, Cescom, etc.)
  • Heavy repair, modification and inspection of both metallic and composite structures experience.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military

Essential Functions:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, and climb ladders or stairs frequently.
  • Work in diverse environmental conditions.
