Job description

Aircraft Mechanic II โ€“ Line Supervision (NAS Whidbey Island)

Amentum is seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic II to provide line supervision in support of U.S. Naval Air Station maintenance operations. The role involves inspecting, repairing, and modifying EAโ€‘18G aircraft, subsystems, support equipment, and related weapons systems while advising and training team members on complex maintenance issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and maintain aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants, fuel systems, and functional components using hand and power tools, rivet guns, and drills.
  • Diagnose engine malfunction, locate source of issues, and perform repairs or replacements on engine components.
  • Remove engines and major components, disassemble, inspect for wear or defects, and reassemble for flight.
  • Adjust, repair, and replace instruments, avionics, flight control, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems, and aircraft accessories.
  • Perform engine flush/cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance checks at flight line as needed.
  • Specialize in repair and modification of engines, structural components, precision repair, spare parts, and assemblies.
  • Recommend revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Provide scheduled and unscheduled organizational maintenance support.
  • Inspect aircraft for tools and foreign objects that may pose risks.
  • Verify that all maintenance performed is correct and complete.
  • Conduct administrative duties: prepare reports, file records, maintain logbooks, and analyze databases.
  • Participate in emergency response drills (firefighting, reclamation, salvage, and movement drills).
  • Perform any other duties ordered by mandating directives.
Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent aircraft organizationalโ€‘level experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of F/Aโ€‘18E/F/EAโ€‘18G experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of CDI qualification and leadership.
  • F/Aโ€‘18E/F/EAโ€‘18G fuel cell maintenance qualifications.
  • F/Aโ€‘18E/F/EAโ€‘18G engine operation certification.
Technical Proficiency
  • Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems.
  • ARS PODs. Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Launch/Arresting, Wing/Pylon Fold.
  • Hydraulic/Pneumatic, Mechanical Flight Control Systems.
  • Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS).
  • Power Distribution/Electrical Power, Instruments, Compass, Automatic Flight Control, Lighting Systems.
  • Aircraft Armament Line Corrosion.
  • Reading and interpreting technical publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables, and specifications.
Physical & Security Requirements

Must be able to pass and maintain a Security Clearance, maintain facility credentials, and have a valid driverโ€™s license. Must meet physical requirements of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and lifting 40โ€“50+ lbs. Work may involve exposure to heat, cold, vibration, chemicals, and confined spaces. Fall protection equipment and PPE are mandatory.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $45.98 (current) with scheduled increases. Competitive benefits package: medical, dental, vision, AD&D, life, disability, and employee assistance.
