Description:

Innovation At Work (IAW) is seeking a professional, customer-focused Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Academic Advisor to support the United States Air Force Voluntary Education Program at Nellis Air Force Base.

The CCAF Academic Advisor serves as the primary academic advisor for Airmen pursuing Community College of the Air Force degrees. This position provides academic advising, degree planning, educational guidance, graduation support, customer service, and administrative support while ensuring exceptional service to military members.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Academic Advisor. 
  • Provide individualized academic advising to Airmen regarding CCAF degree requirements and educational planning. 
  • Review, interpret, and explain CCAF Degree Audits and degree completion requirements. 
  • Assist students with admissions, registration, graduation eligibility, and degree completion requirements. 
  • Explain general education, technical core, technical electives, and program elective requirements. 
  • Advise students regarding CLEP, DSST, and other approved methods of earning academic credit. 
  • Assist students with Air Force education systems including AFVEC, CCAF Online Services, AF COOL, Candidate and Graduate Tools, and AF Form 968 Student Action Requests. 
  • Provide guidance regarding graduation timelines and intent-to-graduate requirements. 
  • Support CCAF graduation ceremonies, diploma distribution, education fairs, and Right Start briefings. 
  • Provide outstanding customer service by greeting visitors, answering telephones, and responding to routine education inquiries. 
  • Assist students with ordering official college transcripts and accessing education resources. 
  • Maintain accurate records using Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS) and other government systems. 
  • Update education records for out-processing military members. 
  • Perform testing support duties when assigned. 
  • Protect sensitive government information and comply with all Air Force security, privacy, and operational requirements. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Voluntary Education Program. 

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday 
  • 7:30 AM-4:30 PM 
  • No weekends 
  • No Federal Holidays
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree required (official transcript or diploma required before employment). 
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in higher education, academic advising, educational counseling, registrar services, admissions, or a related educational environment. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Strong customer service experience. 
  • Ability to interpret academic records and educational requirements. 
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications. 
  • Ability to learn and effectively use Air Force education systems. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to Nellis Air Force Base, including any required background screening. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree. 
  • Experience supporting military education programs. 
  • Experience using AFVEC, AFAEMS, CCAF systems, or AF COOL. 
  • Previous experience in academic advising, higher education administration, admissions, or student services. 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods. 
  • Frequent computer and telephone use. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with military members and staff. 
  • Occasionally lift educational materials up to 20 pounds.
