What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AI Reliability Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AI Reliability Engineer, you need a solid background in computer science or engineering, expertise in AI/ML concepts, and experience with software testing and reliability methodologies. Familiarity with tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, CI/CD pipelines, and reliability testing frameworks, along with certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning), is highly valuable. Analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and strong collaboration skills set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure robust, dependable AI systems that meet performance standards and maintain trust in critical applications.

What is the difference between Ai Reliability Engineer vs Data Scientist?

AspectAi Reliability EngineerData Scientist
Required CredentialsBachelor's or master's in CS, engineering, or related; certifications in AI/MLBachelor's or master's in CS, statistics, or related; certifications in data analysis or ML
Work EnvironmentTech companies, AI-focused teams, engineering departmentsResearch labs, tech firms, analytics teams
Employer & Industry UsageAI product development, machine learning systems, reliability testingData analysis, predictive modeling, business insights

While both roles involve AI and ML, Ai Reliability Engineers focus on ensuring AI system robustness and uptime, whereas Data Scientists analyze data to generate insights and models. The roles often collaborate but serve different primary functions within AI projects.

What are AI Reliability Engineers?

AI Reliability Engineers are professionals responsible for ensuring that artificial intelligence systems function reliably, safely, and effectively over time. They work on monitoring AI models in production, identifying and mitigating potential failures, and improving the robustness of AI systems. Their tasks often include testing, validation, performance monitoring, and implementing best practices for maintaining AI infrastructure. By focusing on reliability, they help organizations deploy AI solutions that are dependable and trustworthy in real-world environments.

What are some common challenges Ai Reliability Engineers face when ensuring model robustness in production environments?

Ai Reliability Engineers often encounter challenges such as monitoring AI model performance for drift or unexpected behavior, managing data quality issues, and implementing automated alerting systems for anomalies. In production, it's crucial to ensure that AI models operate consistently and remain reliable under varying conditions and data inputs. Collaborating closely with data scientists, software engineers, and DevOps teams is essential to address these challenges and to continuously improve model reliability and uptime.

Job description

OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox Corporation
Under the FOX banner, we produce and distribute content through some of the world's leading and most valued brands, including: FOX News Media, FOX Sports, FOX Entertainment, FOX Television Stations and Tubi Media Group. We empower a diverse range of creators to imagine and develop culturally significant content, while building an organization that thrives on creative ideas, operational expertise and strategic thinking.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We believe in the future of entertainment - across all platforms and for all audiences.
FOX has always given unfettered access to the moments that have collectively captivated us. The breaking story. The unmissable final. The outrageous touchdown. The shocking cliffhanger. We changed the game on sports and news production. Now we're looking to change the game again. We are pioneering the future of news, sports, and entertainment in the digital realm.
It's an audacious mission. We're challenging ourselves to be the first to do it - to disrupt the digital entertainment category and redefine the live experience for the next generation.
And we're doing it by starting from scratch. Think of FOX as a start up with the backing of a fortune 500 corporation. You will be part of a new team with full permission to reinvent, disrupt, and build in a highly collaborative and transparent environment.
FOX has always been an advocate for the disruptive spirit. And now we're looking for like-minded people to push the boundaries on what entertainment can mean. Join us to help make the best of sports, news, and entertainment more personal, more immersive, and more interactive than ever before.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Broadcast Reliability Engineer helps build and operate the intelligent monitoring and automation platforms that power one of the nation's premier broadcasters. As part of our Broadcast Reliability team, you'll develop software, automate workflows, and leverage AI-driven monitoring to help ensure FOX content is delivered reliably across linear broadcast, Video on Demand (VOD), streaming, and emerging media platforms. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, including machine learning, intelligent automation, and real-time observability, to solve complex operational challenges at scale.
At FOX, you will have full permission to bring your best tech game to invent and build technology that delivers a high-quality viewer experience to millions across FOX networks, digital platforms, mobile applications, websites, and licensing partnerships.
The way we consume media has fundamentally changed. We watch on our laptops, phones, tablets, and TV. We stream, record and binge. Who knows what we'll do next? You do - because you help build the technology to realize it!
ABOUT YOU
  • You care about your team and their diverse perspectives and are invested in their success
  • You are excited by new technologies and their potential to change how things are done
  • You have an entrepreneur's spirit and enjoy problem solving
  • You LOVE getting stuff done, not just talking about it!

This position supports a 24/7 broadcast operation. While the role is primarily scheduled during daytime hours, flexibility to provide evening or overnight coverage for live events and critical operational activities is expected as needed.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience working on software-based design, development, or technical support projects
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and technical troubleshooting skills are essential
  • Previous experience with architecture, deployment, or administration of monitoring, alerting, and/or data analysis systems in on-premises and cloud environments is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly document technical issues and present findings
  • Experience with software development using C# and/or Python; familiarity with REST APIs, Git, and scripting/automation is preferred
  • Experience with production video and broadcast operations
  • Experience with IP networking and broadcast workflows (SMPTE ST 2110, ST 2022-6, multicast, PTP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with monitoring platforms such as Skyline DataMiner or similar enterprise monitoring and automation solutions is a plus
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts, including anomaly detection, predictive monitoring, and AI-assisted operational workflows
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted development platforms to support scripting, code analysis, troubleshooting, API integration, automation development, and technical documentation

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Experience with the Skyline DataMiner platform, including protocols, connectors, dashboards, automations, or low-code applications, is a major plus
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability platforms (e.g., ELK/Elastic Stack, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar)
  • Experience with incident management workflows and integrations with ServiceNow, Slack, or similar platforms
  • Proficient with data formats and configuration languages including XML and JSON
  • Familiarity with SQL, time-series databases, or data visualization tools is a plus
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
