AI Specialist, IT Care Management Support

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day shift

Position Summary: 

Under general direction, the AI Specialist serves as a technical and strategic contributor in the development, integration, and evaluation of data analytics and artificial intelligence initiatives within the Covenant Health system. This role focuses on identifying opportunities for AI integration, developing proof-of-concept models, and ensuring alignment with clinical and operational goals that enhance clinical workflows, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes through data analytics and modeling. The AI Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure AI solutions are ethical, secure, and aligned with organizational goals.

This position is looking to expand on Covenant Health's growing AI analytics opportunities through large language models (LLMs) and AI agents. Some experience working with AI analytics and data modeling with a background in python and other coding models is preferred. This position will also require some minor rotational on-call after-hours and day shift coverage for help desk tickets, dealing with various issues and needs from end users for all of Covenant Health's data reporting needs.

  • Analyze, design, and implement AI models for healthcare applications such as predictive analytics, ambient listening, and clinical decision support and business process optimization.
  • Develop and tests machine learning models and algorithms tailored to healthcare and business applications such as predictive analytics, natural language processing, and image recognition.
  • Collaborates with clinicians, IT, and business stakeholders to identify use-cases and data sources for AI solutions.
  • Develop and maintain AI pipelines, including data preprocessing, model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, data privacy standards, and ethical guidelines in AI development and deployment activities.
  • Evaluate feasibility and impact of proposed AI solutions on clinical workflows, business processes, and patient outcomes.
  • Prepare documentation including AI workflows, model specifications, validation reports, and user guides.
  • Participates in the design and maintenance of AI-related datasets and infrastructure, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to staff on AI tools, concepts and best practices.
  • Monitor and optimize deployed AI models for performance accuracy and recommends updates or retraining as needed.
  • Stays current with advancements in AI, machine learning, business analytics, and healthcare informatics.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals for AI tools and services, ensuring alignment with technical, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Contributes to strategic planning for AI integration across clinical, operational, and administrative domains.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders to facilitate understanding and adoption of AI solutions.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:           

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Equivalent experience with specialized AI training may be considered.

Minimum Experience:         

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in AI or machine learning development.
