Job description

Blackstone is the world’s largest alternative asset manager and seeks to deliver compelling returns for institutional and individual investors. BXCI AI identifies and responds to AI-driven disruption risk across the BXCI portfolio, working directly with portfolio company leadership to assess competitive exposure and develop strategies for long-term viability.

Role

This position is the primary technical partner to the BXCI AI Operating team across the full engagement lifecycle—from initial assessment through strategy development, partner selection, and hands‑on execution. The right candidate is a builder with strong business instincts, deep fluency in the modern AI stack, and the ability to form rapid, defensible opinions about unfamiliar technical systems.

Responsibilities
  • Assess portfolio companies’ technical reality (architecture, data assets, infrastructure, talent), translate findings into strategic insight, contribute to internal memos, and build rapid prototypes to validate proposed strategic moves.
  • Build and maintain internal tools that make the team more effective: research automation, assessment templates, tracking systems, and reusable components that accelerate work across the portfolio.
  • Lead technical diligence on implementation partners, monitor their delivery during active engagements, and participate in working sessions with portfolio company teams alongside the AI Executive.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years building AI/ML systems in production environments.
  • Fluency in foundation models, agent frameworks, RAG architectures, vector databases, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Strong Python engineering skills with experience building APIs and AI‑powered applications.
  • Experience shipping AI-enabled products or features to real users.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and production deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Proficiency in rapidly assessing unfamiliar technical systems and forming defensible architectural views.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for senior audiences.
  • Preferred: Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or agent‑facing API design.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with SaaS or enterprise software businesses.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in consulting, investing, or technical diligence.
  • Preferred: Exposure to private equity, credit, or portfolio operations environments.
  • No prior financial services experience required.
Compensation and Benefits

Expected annual base salary range: $215,000–$250,000. Additional compensation and benefits include comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision, FSA), paid time off, life insurance, 401(k) plan, discretionary bonuses, and potential equity and incentive compensation at Blackstone’s discretion.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Blackstone is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, marital or partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, genetic predisposition, veteran or military status, or status as a victim of domestic violence, a sex offense or stalking, or any other class or status in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including hiring, placement, promotion, termination, transfer, leave of absence, compensation, and training. All Blackstone employees, including recruiting personnel and hiring managers, are required to abide by this policy.
