Ai Backend Developer information

How does an AI backend developer interact with data scientists and frontend teams?

As an AI Backend Developer, you will frequently collaborate with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into scalable backend systems. This involves translating prototypes into production-ready APIs, ensuring data pipelines are robust, and optimizing inference performance. You’ll also work closely with frontend teams to define API contracts and ensure that data flows smoothly between the user interface and backend processes. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as these collaborations help deliver seamless AI-powered features to end users.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an AI backend developer?

To thrive as an AI Backend Developer, you need strong programming skills (especially in Python or Java), a solid grasp of machine learning concepts, and experience with backend frameworks, supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with cloud platforms (like AWS or Azure), containerization tools (such as Docker), and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch is typically required, along with knowledge of RESTful APIs and databases. Problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and clear communication are essential soft skills that help navigate complex projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. These technical and interpersonal skills ensure robust, scalable AI solutions are developed and maintained efficiently in a rapidly evolving field.

What is the difference between Ai Backend Developer vs Data Engineer?

Location: Minneapolis, MN (Day 1 Onsite)
Job Type: Contract
Experience: Mid to Senior level
Job Overview
Our client is seeking an AI Agentic Engineer to design and build intelligent agent systems using large language models (LLMs). The role focuses on agentic workflows, execution harnesses, and context-driven AI systems, with a strong emphasis on building end-to-end applications for real-world use - especially in SDLC automation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build AI agents using agentic loop patterns (plan → act → observe → improve)
  • Develop execution harnesses to integrate agents with APIs, tools, and enterprise systems
  • Design context pipelines including RAG, memory management, and prompt strategies
  • Implement AI solutions across SDLC workflows such as code generation, testing, and PR review
  • Develop backend services and APIs for agent systems using Python/FastAPI or TypeScript
  • Integrate LLMs, vector databases, and enterprise systems
  • Handle orchestration, reliability, and scalability of agent infrastructure
  • Deploy solutions on cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Ensure monitoring, logging, and performance optimization across deployed systems
Required Skills
  • Strong Python (backend) or TypeScript development experience
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs: OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or Claude
  • Proficiency with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar agentic frameworks
  • Experience with Semantic Kernel
  • Knowledge of RAG and vector databases
  • Backend API development using FastAPI or equivalent
  • Cloud deployment experience, preferably AWS
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with SDLC automation and AI-assisted code generation or review
  • Familiarity with observability tools for LLM systems
