Senior Manager - Senior AI Architect

KPMG

Montreal, QC • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 3 days ago

Job description

Overview

At KPMG in Canada, our people bring their unique perspectives to Canada’s most important challenges. Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.

As a Senior AI Architect, you will play a key role in defining, assessing, and guiding large-scale technology, data, and AI architectures for our strategic clients. You will act as a technical reference and trusted advisor on complex programs, ensuring that KPMG’s proposed solutions integrate seamlessly, securely, and pragmatically within our clients’ enterprise architectures.

Your role will go beyond designing AI solutions: you will contribute to establishing overarching architectural recommendations that guide project execution, taking into account existing environments, data platforms, integration constraints, governance, security, cost considerations, and time-to-value.

What you will do
  • Define and recommend end-to-end architectures for digital transformation, data, and AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with clients’ enterprise architectures.
  • Design and lead complex, secure, and scalable AI-native architectures across cloud, hybrid, and multi-platform environments.
  • Assess existing architectures, including legacy systems, data platforms, cloud environments, AI/ML stacks, and integration models.
  • Recommend pragmatic modernization roadmaps aligned with business objectives, technology constraints, and clients’ execution capabilities.
  • Define robust, governed, and scalable data architectures, including the foundations required for advanced analytics, generative AI, and intelligent agents.
  • Design provable and auditable architectures incorporating performance, security, compliance, traceability, observability, explainability, and governance.
  • Guide architectural decisions by balancing cost, scalability, resilience, performance, operability, and time-to-value.
  • Design and oversee advanced integration patterns, including APIs, event-driven architectures, streaming, data mesh, data platforms, orchestration, agents, and intelligent workflows.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, IT stakeholders, data teams, product teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Support and accelerate the adoption of generative AI, business copilots, autonomous agents, and enterprise AI platforms.
  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and cloud, security, and governance specialists.
  • Contribute to the evolution of KPMG offerings across AI, data architecture, cloud transformation, enterprise architecture, and technology governance.

What you bring to the role

You are a seasoned architect, capable of navigating highly complex environments while remaining deeply grounded in the technological, operational, and organizational realities of clients.

You excel at translating business objectives into concrete architectural recommendations, guiding the execution of complex initiatives, and influencing technology decisions across both executive and technical stakeholders.

Experience & Expertise

  • 10+ years of experience in complex solution architecture, including enterprise architecture, cloud, data, integration, digital platforms, or technology modernization.

  • Recent and significant experience with AI-native architectures, Generative AI, data platforms, or large-scale digital transformation initiatives.

  • Strong expertise in assessing, designing, rationalizing, and modernizing enterprise architectures.

  • Proven ability to act as a Subject Matter Expert on critical or strategic initiatives.

  • Experience defining architectural recommendations that effectively guide project execution in complex client environments.

  • Ability to balance target-state vision with existing constraints, technology risks, cost considerations, governance, and delivery capabilities.

Enterprise, Data & Integration Architecture

  • Excellent understanding of enterprise architecture, solution architecture, and data architecture principles.

  • Strong expertise in designing modern data platforms, including data lakehouse, data mesh, data products, and data governance (quality, cataloging, lineage, observability).

  • Experience with distributed, resilient, secure, and highly available architectures.

  • Deep knowledge of integration patterns, including APIs, event-driven architectures, streaming, messaging, orchestration, workflows, agents, and data exchange platforms.

  • Ability to design architectures supporting advanced analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and agentic use cases.

  • Strong awareness of performance, security, compliance, cost, resilience, and operational optimization considerations.

  • Ability to assess the broader impact of solutions on the client’s overall technology ecosystem.

Cloud, AI Platforms & Technology Ecosystems

  • Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-first, hybrid, and multi-cloud architectures.

  • Experience with AI services, data engineering, advanced analytics, MLOps/LLMOps, observability, and cloud security.

  • Ability to design architectures that embed governance, security, compliance, monitoring, and cost control from the outset.

  • Experience with generative AI platforms, copilots, intelligent agents, orchestration tools, and retrieval-augmented systems.

  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem is highly desirable, including Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Fabric, AI Foundry, and Microsoft Purview.

  • Ability to evaluate, compare, and recommend the most appropriate technologies based on client context, without being limited to a single vendor.

Consulting Mindset

  • Excellent analytical, synthesis, and communication skills.

  • Comfortable operating in executive, technical, and multi-stakeholder environments.

  • Ability to influence strategic decisions through clear, fact-based, and pragmatic recommendations.

  • Ability to simplify complex architectural topics for non-technical audiences.

  • Strong client orientation, pragmatic mindset, and ability to align vision, architecture, and execution.

  • Ability to mentor teams, challenge technology decisions, and ensure the architectural integrity and quality of deliverables.
