Ai Accelerator information

What is an AI accelerator?

AI Accelerators are specialized hardware or software systems designed to optimize and speed up artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) workloads. They process complex computations required by AI algorithms more efficiently than general-purpose CPUs, enabling faster training and inference for deep learning models. Common examples of AI accelerators include GPUs, TPUs, FPGAs, and dedicated AI chips. These technologies are widely used in data centers, edge devices, and consumer electronics to support applications like image recognition, natural language processing, and autonomous vehicles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AI accelerator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AI Accelerator, you need a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, computer architecture, and parallel computing, often supported by a degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with hardware description languages (HDLs), CUDA, TensorFlow, and specific AI accelerator platforms is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and adaptability are essential soft skills for navigating complex projects and interdisciplinary teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for designing, optimizing, and deploying high-performance AI systems that meet real-world demands.

How does an AI accelerator typically collaborate with data scientists and engineering teams on AI projects?

AI Accelerators work closely with both data scientists and engineering teams to bridge the gap between model development and deployment. They often help optimize AI models for efficiency and scalability, ensuring they run effectively on various hardware platforms. Regular collaboration includes reviewing model architectures, suggesting improvements for speed and accuracy, and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks together. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for translating research breakthroughs into robust, real-world AI solutions.

What does an AI accelerator do?

An AI accelerator is a professional who develops and optimizes hardware and software solutions to improve the performance of artificial intelligence models. They often work with specialized hardware like GPUs or TPUs and use programming skills in frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch to enhance AI processing speed and efficiency.

Full-time

Re-posted 12 days ago

Key responsibilities

  • Lead AI and data strategy engagements from problem definition to design of roadmaps and operating models.

  • Manage engagement delivery by overseeing scope, risk, stakeholder relationships, and facilitating workshops.

  • Develop technical, organizational, and process recommendations, and ensure alignment of AI/data platforms with strategy.

Job description

phData is seeking an AI & Data Strategy Leader to join our Advisory team. You'll work with senior executives to shape AI and data strategy, lead cross-functional teams to deliver on it, and turn capabilities into measurable business outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

Client Delivery & Execution

  • Lead AI & data strategy engagements end-to-end: problem definition, readiness assessment, use case prioritization, and design of roadmaps and operating models tied to revenue, customer experience, and innovation objectives
  • Own engagement delivery; manage scope and risk, maintain executive-level stakeholder relationships (including C-suite), and facilitate high-impact discovery, prioritization, and "art of the possible" workshops
  • Bridge the gap between business needs and technology: develop balanced technical, organizational, and process recommendations and build compelling narratives and rigorous business cases for AI/data investments
  • Architect future-state AI & data operating models and technology stacks with a focus on safety, scalability, TCO, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide delivery oversight for AI/data platforms; ensure execution aligns with agreed strategy; own quality of all engagement outputs and coach project team members on consulting fundamentals and business impact

Client Leadership & Account Growth

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to day-to-day client sponsors and senior stakeholders,  owning relationships, aligning on delivery roadmaps, and surfacing expansion opportunities
  • Partner with executive sponsors, data and analytics leaders, product and delivery teams, and business end users to ensure seamless execution and measurable outcomes
  • Build cross-practice relationships (Data Engineering, Analytics, AI/ML, Advisory) to design and deliver end-to-end solutions that drive customer success

Thought Leadership & Practice Development

  • Contribute to phData's AI & Data Strategy offerings: methods, frameworks, accelerators, and client-ready collateral
  • Support sales pursuits, client presentations, and thought leadership focused on AI and data strategy
  • Mentor consultants and senior consultants on strategic thinking, executive presence, and delivery quality

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years as a hands-on AI or data strategy leader, owning strategy engagements and roadmaps
  • 2+ years of consulting leadership with external clients, managing multiple workstreams and teams
  • Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders (including C-suite) and deliver a clear, compelling story behind recommendations
  • Experience identifying and prioritizing AI/data opportunities, designing roadmaps and operating models, and building business cases tied to revenue, cost, risk, and customer experience
  • Strong technical literacy across modern cloud and data platforms, data governance, AI governance, and ML pipelines, and how these connect to business outcomes
  • Experience leading workshops (discovery, prioritization, "art of the possible"), driving change and adoption, and coaching/mentoring consultants and technical leaders
  • Track record collaborating with client stakeholders, partners, and cross-functional teams with high ownership and accountability
  • Extensive experience leading multi-engagement or multi-year AI/data strategy portfolios
