Job Description
FLSA Classification:
Overtime Status: Non- Exempt
Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking an Aggregate Quality Control Assistant.
We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 40 hours are worked each week. Hours of work are will vary.
Expectations:
  • Routine visitation to our numerous sites collecting samples as per AASHTO & ASTM standards
  • Ability to become well-versed in the industry related details/specs
  • Proficiently sample the associated materials through control of quality measurements for products involving various aggregates
  • Assist Quality Control Technicians and Sr. Quality Control Technicians with performing a variety of laboratory tests in a methodical, well-organized, and accurate manner of all related product quality/test data
  • Must be able to efficiently inspect and take notes on the conditions of the weather feedstock, plant settings, stockpile
  • Identify and alert site managers of any problematic, unusual issues within the stockpile to ensure quality control of products
  • Ingenuity and resourcefulness to seek new technical developments within the industry for quality control development
  • Prepare various QC reports
  • Adjusting mix properties as needed to meet specs
  • Maintain working relationships with all QC department technicians and Team Leaders
  • Capability of learning to perform gradations on material, learning products and DOT specs on aggregates
  • Helping customers, sales department and visiting inspectors with material data, specifications and material certifications

Required Knowledge/skills/aptitudes:
  • Must have an optimistic attitude and willing to learn new tasks
  • Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills with the capacity to clearly communicate results, identified problems etc. to supervisors/managers
  • Must be able to read, comprehend manuals & directions
  • Detailed organization, timely filing, strong worth ethic are key essentials
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Basic math skills are vital for purposes of accuracy
  • Field/Plant experience in testing/controlling the quality of aggregates/materials AND/OR prior Quality Control Technician experience a plus
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License

Physical Demands:
  • Repetitive stooping, bending, crouching as required to perform duties
  • Ability to lift/carry at 50 - 100 pounds unaccompanied
  • Candidate must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Exposure to all weather conditions, noise, dust and equipment
  • Employee will regularly work near moving machinery
  • Travel to all Company locations is expected for this position

Travel: This position is based in Haledon, NJ. however, travel among all of our locations will be expected
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
  • Day hours are generally 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday; Night- shift hours are generally 5:00pm -3:00am; Saturday work may also be required.
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Periodical exposure to high levels of noise, grease & dust

Pay: $21.00-$24.00/Hour
This position may be subjected to seasonal layoffs. This is considered a safety- sensitive position subjected to the Company's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Policy.
