Job description

  • Department: Interventional Radiology
  • Schedule: Part-Time, Days, 6:30am-5pm. Variable on-call weeknights/weekends/holidays
  • Location: Grand Blanc, MI

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Perform angiograms, digital angiography, invasive specialized radiologic procedures under the direction and supervision of a angiography radiologist. Prepare, position patients for procedure and operates complex specialized radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment to obtain quality diagnostic radiographs and images. Provides emergency angiographic services 24 hours a day standby. Demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to care for the age group(s) served.
  • Operate complex radiographic equipment in special suite with high degree of technical skill.
  • Deliver quality patient care. This includes the use of universal precautions, assuring patient confidentiality and the practice of appropriate medical ethics.
  • Assist physician specialists in sterile invasive procedures such as arterial and venous catherization studies.
  • Responsible for equipment, supplies and inventories in special rooms.
  • Administer contrast agents under the direction of a radiologist.
  • Working knowledge of the various catheters, guide wires and needles used in invasive procedures.
  • Perform sterile surgical scrub techniques for vascular procedures.
  • Proficient in handling emergency medical situations.
  • Evaluate equipment malfunctions and reports to proper authority.
  • Assist in the instruction and training of students; technical resource for residents
  • Knowledge of subtraction techniques, hospital computer and networking images.
  • Perform other related duties such as staff radiologic technologist, clerical tasks, and transportation of patients.
  • Assure the use of proper radiation protection against ionizing radiation.
  • Responsible for accurate billing for procedures performed.
  • Represent the hospital in a positive manner both in and outside the work area. Practices good guest relations in promoting the image of the Radiology Department and Henry Ford Genesys Hospital.
  • Properly identifies patient, images and radiographs.
  • To enhance expertise, keeps current on new developments, trends, equipment and procedures in the field. Attends in-services, seminars and educational programs.
  • Maintain all work areas in a neat and clean environment.
  • Schedule exams in angiography, answers phone and organizes films for copying or digitizing.
  • Essential Functions: -Ability to be mobile and have normal manual dexterity. Must be able to effectively communicate orally, written, by telephone with staff, physicians and patients. Assist, move, transfer and lift patients. Ability to move standard radiological equipment. Ability to plan, follow directions, and problem solve. Ability to teach, instruct. Knowledge to learn to operate hospital, radiology computer system and AGFA Network.
  • Working Conditions: Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards. Subject to patient illnesses, communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:
  • Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Must complete training under a special procedure radiologist for one year required
  • Associates level degree in radiologic technology is preferred.
  • Requires three years' experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Must possess analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and guests' relations to effectively interact with patients, staff, physicians.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Vascular-Intrvn Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred
