Job Summary:
Persona AI is developing and commercializing rugged, multi-purpose humanoid robots that perform real work. They are seeking a Robotics Senior Software Engineer to develop agentic programming frameworks and collaborate with various software teams to improve product quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Explore best practices in agentic programming and work with the teams to develop agentic programming frameworks, standards, and conventions to ensure productive deployment across the company.
• Become proficient in agentic programming and stay informed on the field in order to best understand the pros and cons, new offerings, etc.
• Develop and deploy agentic tools (e.g. agentic code review, health monitors, architecture diagrams, documentation improvers) for improving software quality across the organization.
• Develop software tools and procedures that improve product quality, efficiency, and engineering quality of life.
• Collaborate closely with locomotion, teleop, perception, machine learning, manipulation, continuous integration, and other Persona AI software teams. Propose and develop software for the needs of the various teams throughout the organization.
• Review software architectures, frameworks, and code. Give feedback and advice on how to improve various software.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in robotics software and systems architecture.
• Focus approximately 50% of effort on agentic programming frameworks, standards, and tooling and about 50% of effort contributing towards specific software tools and modules.
Qualifications:
Required:
• PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in developing robotics software platforms or related systems.
• Solid understanding of core robotics principles, including kinematics, controls, simulation, logging, visualization, software deployment, and robot operation.
• Proficiency in Rust, C++, Python, and/or Java and relevant robotics middleware, such as comms protocols, gui frameworks, third party software packages.
• Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining robot APIs.
• Deep understanding of operating systems concepts and real-time systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
Preferred:
• Strong background in software architecture and systems design.
• Experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems.
• Experience with containerization and deployment technologies (e.g., Docker).
• Experience with automated testing and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD).
• Experience with simulation environments for testing system integration.
