What is an agency associate?

An Agency Associate is an entry-level professional who supports the operations and client services of an agency, such as those in advertising, marketing, insurance, or staffing. Their responsibilities often include assisting senior staff, coordinating projects, communicating with clients, preparing reports, and handling administrative tasks. This role provides exposure to various aspects of agency work and is often a stepping stone to more specialized positions within the organization.

What are the typical responsibilities and collaboration patterns for an agency associate in a marketing agency?

As an Agency Associate in a marketing agency, you can expect to handle tasks such as coordinating client communications, supporting campaign execution, managing project timelines, and preparing reports. You’ll frequently collaborate with account managers, creative teams, and sometimes directly with clients to ensure projects run smoothly and meet objectives. The role often requires juggling multiple projects, adapting to shifting priorities, and maintaining strong attention to detail. Teamwork and effective communication are key, as you’ll be a vital link between internal teams and clients.

Position Overview:

As the Senior Associate, Programmatic, you will be responsible for supporting and leading the day-to-day programmatic campaign activity for assigned agency teams and clients. Working across multiple interfaces-including Demand-Side Platforms (DV360, Xandr, Amazon DSP, The Trade Desk), Salesforce, Radia, and Datorama-you will play a key role in campaign strategy execution, set up, pacing, optimization, and reporting.

You are a strong team player who collaborates closely with Trading Strategy, Ad Operations, Analytics teams, and external vendor partners to ensure flawless campaign performance. As a Senior Associate, you bring a high degree of ownership and accountability, a strong technical understanding of programmatic nuances, and a passion for mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Campaign Execution & DSP Management: Lead and assist with campaign set up, pacing, shifts, and optimizations across major DSPs (DV360, Xandr, Amazon DSP, The Trade Desk).
  • Workflow & System Management: Accurately input, sync, and maintain campaign data in internal systems and platforms, including Salesforce, Radia, and Datorama.
  • Quality Assurance & Ad Ops Guidance: Audit and review digital creative tags prior to launch to ensure accuracy, providing clear verification guidance to the Ad Operations team.
  • Delivery & Pacing Monitoring: Ensure timely campaign launches, track live delivery post-launch, update internal campaign trackers, and ensure monthly actualizations are completed on schedule.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Compile reporting inputs for post-campaign reports and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), analyzing media metrics and KPIs to maximize client investments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain proactive communication across business units (Programmatic Managers, Ad Ops, Analysts, Trading Strategy) and liaise with vendors and agency partners in preparation for campaign launches.
  • Mentorship & Process Improvement: Mentor and guide Programmatic Coordinators, assist in creating standardized process documentation, and proactively identify opportunities to refine internal workflows.

What You Bring:
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in programmatic execution or a Programmatic Coordinator/Associate role within an agency or media environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience navigating and operating across major DSPs (DV360, Xandr, Amazon DSP, The Trade Desk, Yahoo/Verizon).
  • Solid understanding of the programmatic ecosystem, media metrics, KPIs, and digital ad tech mechanics.
  • Experience utilizing internal workflow platforms and reporting systems (Salesforce, Radia, Datorama).
  • High level of attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot deliverability or performance issues.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high-energy, team-first mentality.
  • High level of technical proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Nice-to-Haves:
  • 100% Certification on relevant DSP platforms (DV360, Xandr, Amazon DSP, The Trade Desk).
  • Post-secondary education in Media, Marketing, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated previous leadership or peer-mentorship skills to coach and support junior team members (Programmatic Coordinators).
  • Knowledge of the French language is an asset.
