Job description

Job Requirements
Under the direct clinical supervision of the on-site provider and manager, the Medical Assistant III supports patient care by performing delegated medical and clerical tasks, utilizing the electronic medical record (EMR) for documentation, and managing medication handling. This role actively contributes to daily operations, patient flow, and serves as a resource and preceptor for Medical Assistant I and II staff. Key responsibilities include greeting patients professionally, gathering and documenting clinical information, performing vital signs and routine testing, assisting with procedures, administering select medications, and participating in patient outreach and population health initiatives. Additionally, the Medical Assistant III handles prior authorizations, supports administrative functions such as benefit checks and financial counseling, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and engages in process improvement and team collaboration to enhance overall clinic operations and patient experience.
Work Experience
Education & Experience - Required
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program, with exceptions considered for those having at least one year of supervised medical assisting experience within the last three years, subject to approval by Human Resources and Department Directors. A current national certification from AAMA, NHA, AAH, or AMT is required, including Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant credentials. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of three years of medical assisting and medical practice experience, along with current BLS certification.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
The ideal candidate adheres strictly to organizational policies, procedures, and the code of conduct, demonstrating exemplary customer service and operational best practices. They possess knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques, including blood and body fluid precautions, and exhibit strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and other organizational staff. Teamwork and positive collaboration are essential, supported by demonstrated abilities to foster effective communication and promote a cooperative work environment.
