Job description

Ag Service Road Technician
The Reynolds Farm Equipment Ag Service Road Technician diagnoses and repairs complex heavy equipment, off road, construction, and lawn equipment for the customers and the dealership. Independently perform in-field equipment diagnostics and repairs by operating a mobile service vehicle and traveling to customer locations. This position helps create lifetime customers by communicating and articulating aspects of work being performed in a courteous, efficient and timely manner. Individual will serve as an in-field representative for the dealership to provide service solutions. Ag Service Road Technician provides clear communication on status of equipment repairs and inspections while being descriptive with work orders to their supervisor. The Ag Service Road Technician must practice confidentiality both in and out of dealership and maintain positive attitude while working to improve teamwork between all dealership personnel. Responsibilities:
  • Requires a strong work ethic to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Performs diagnostics, repairs, and inspections on John Deere equipment and technology in the field in a timely and accurate manner as required
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Identify and communicate solutions for customer service opportunities in area of responsibility
  • Maintains accurate inventory of parts, tools, and technology kept in stock on service vehicle
  • Maintains condition of vehicle, inventory, tools and equipment; maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments in alignment with Reynolds and OSHA safety protocols and procedures
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
  • Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders; responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics, quotes/inspections, and repairs performed on work orders
  • May mentor service student technicians or trainees; participate in Service EDUCATE training paths required for the development of skills and knowledge
  • Promote and maintain positive attitude by positively affecting customers and employees
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of data entry/keyboarding skills
  • Product knowledge of heavy and diesel equipment; off road; construction; equipment technology; etc.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, technology, and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, lawn, and heavy equipment
  • Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office, email, and internet functions
  • Unwavering commitment to confidentiality
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and working cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to perform repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on machines of the technician’s specialty
  • Ability to use Service ADVISOR™ and other computer software based diagnostic repair tools preferred
  • Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills; clear and concise communication
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
  • Basic Knowledge of chemical and fluid substance use safety and energy control safety
  • Basic Service Technician certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license is required; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred
  • Forklift license preferred but can be certified in house
