Job description

Constitution Bank is coming to Bethalto, IL and needing a dedicated Commercial Ag Lender to join the team! The Commercial / Agricultural Loan Officer is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of commercial and agricultural loans, including originating, underwriting, structuring, and closing loans. This role involves evaluating loan applicants' financial status and creditworthiness, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Constitution Bank in Bethalto will open Fall 2026. All training will take place in the Hillsboro Main Branch and other surrounding CB locations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage relationships with commercial and agricultural clients, including farmers and small-to-mid-sized businesses.
  • Originate, evaluate, structure, and close new commercial and ag loans
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flows, credit reports, collateral, and market conditions.
  • Conduct farm visits, site inspections, and borrower interviews to assess business operations and collateral value.
  • Monitor loan performance, collect updated financial information, and ensure compliance with terms and covenants.
  • Ensure all loan documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with credit analysts, underwriters, and management.
  • Participate in community and industry events to build business development opportunities and represent the bank’s brand.
  • Stay informed about local and regional economic conditions, industry trends, and changes in ag and commercial lending regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial or ag lending, credit analysis, related banking experience, or sales.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, credit analysis, and lending
  • Excellent communication, sales, and customer service skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with local communities / markets
  • Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, Word, and Outlook
