Description:

The Afternoon Assistant Teacher is an essential member of the classroom team, helping create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children from infancy through Pre-K. 

Working alongside the Lead Teacher, this role supports children's learning through play, positive relationships, and responsive caregiving while assisting with classroom routines during the afternoon hours.

The ideal candidate is warm, dependable, flexible, and enjoys working collaboratively with children, families, and fellow educators.

Requirements: Child Care & Supervision
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children at all times. 
  • Build caring, respectful relationships with children through positive interactions. 
  • Support children using developmentally appropriate guidance and positive behavior strategies. 
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and transitions. 
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other personal care routines.
Classroom Support
  • Partner with the Lead Teacher to maintain a welcoming, organized, and engaging learning environment. 
  • Engage with children during play by asking questions, encouraging exploration, and extending learning opportunities. 
  • Prepare and clean up classroom materials and activities. 
  • Help maintain clean, safe, and organized classroom spaces throughout the day. 
  • Assist with classroom closing responsibilities. 
Team Collaboration
  • Work cooperatively with Lead Teachers, support staff, and administration. 
  • Maintain open, respectful, and professional communication with colleagues. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in different classrooms when needed. 
  • Attend required staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
