Job description

Oak View Group (OVG) is the global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, with a platform spanning venue development and end-to-end capabilities across venue management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. The part-time Lead Custodian is responsible for ensuring PeoplsBank Arena meets or exceeds standards of cleanliness to the utmost in guest satisfaction before, during, and after all events. Lead Custodians must aid in the oversight of all custodial work.

This role pays an hourly rate of $17.12-$18.61 (per CBA)

Benefits as per the union agreement.

This position will remain open until August 28, 2026

The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses. PeoplesBank Arena is also home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.

PeoplesBank Arena entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season. The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world-renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others. PeoplesBank Arena will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.


  • Assists in the training, coaching, and supervision of custodial staff
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions & read written instructions, especially relating to cleaning products & SDS
  • Performs light and heavy cleaning tasks, including, but not limited to, cleaning bathrooms and locker rooms, sweeping, mopping, disposing of garbage, etc.
  • Restocks restrooms with supplies
  • Works safely, quickly, and efficiently to meet all deadlines
  • Maintains a positive, outgoing demeanor and acknowledges guests in a friendly manner
  • Possesses basic computer skills
  • All other tasks assigned by Supervisor

  • 2 years cleaning or event-related experience required
  • Prior lead or supervisory responsibilities preferred
  • Basic understanding of how to use cleaning equipment
  • Ability to operate scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors, etc.
  • Basic understanding of SDS
  • Basic understanding of PPE
  • Must arrive for each scheduled shift on time, in uniform and ready to work
  • Ability to work morning, afternoon, and/or overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects as needed.
  • Ability to stand on feet for long period of time, to kneel, stoop, climb stairs and reach above head, as well as perform repetitive motions in connection with cleaning tasks
