Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Urology Clinic RN, you will provide professional nursing services, focusing on high-quality patient care consistent with our standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise is vital in delivering specialized urological care.

Every day you will directly care for clinic patients, assessing, coordinating, triaging, evaluating, and delegating to the care team. You'll educate and consult with patients, families, and staff, implementing interventions for optimal care. You will apply critical thinking to patient care decisions (within scope), integrating resources and data, and utilizing staff efficiently. You'll competently manage patient needs in a provider's absence, accountable for care quality.

To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment, critical thinking, and advanced urology nursing skills. Excellent communication for patient/team interaction, a commitment to quality care, safety, and efficient resource use are essential.

  • Delivers professional nursing care to clinic patients; performs diagnostic testing and related clinical procedures to appropriate level of training/scope of license and established procedures; independently triages nursing situations in accordance with standing orders/protocols; addresses more complex, urgent or emergent situations escalated from other clinic staff.

  • Performs a variety of patient assessment/care tests (e.g. EKG, Spirometry, vision/hearing screening, peak flow, color blindness, etc.) in accordance with established protocols.

  • Makes independent wound assessments and performs complex wound care and dressing changes, including placement or changing of wound vac); removes sutures or staples after wound assessment by a Provider.

  • Inserts and/or removes tubes, drains, urinary catheters, including removal of peripherally-inserted central catheter (PICC); applies splints/braces.

  • Instructs patients in the collection of samples and other tests; ensures that patient or family understands follow-up and referral information.

  • Informs patients of lab results, calls in prescriptions to pharmacies and returns practitioners’ phone messages.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

  • Registered Nurse: WA

  • Basic Life Support - CPR

Preferred

  • One year RN work experience in a clinic setting OR two years of acute care RN work experience
