Job description

JOB OVERVIEW
We are looking for a reliable Day Porter to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming spaces throughout the day. This role focuses on high-traffic and high-visibility areas and completes special cleaning assignments as requested by building management. The Day Porter ensures that lobbies, restrooms, common areas, and exterior spaces are presentable and well-maintained at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, but are not limited to:
  • Perform touch-up cleaning in high-traffic areas such as lobbies, corridors, and common spaces.
  • Inspect and maintain elevator cabs, including vacuuming carpeted floors and removing spots.
  • Clean and stock restrooms on all floors at least twice daily (morning and afternoon). Refill toilet tissue, paper towels, seat covers, soap, and feminine hygiene products.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins, replace liners, and ensure receptacles are clean.
  • Dust, damp wipe, or spot-clean surfaces including desks, chairs, cabinets, window sills, partitions, lightswitches, and glass surfaces.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, baseboards, and other assigned areas.
  • Inspect floors, walls, carpets, and other surfaces for damage or issues needing attention.
  • Report mechanical or electrical problems such as broken locks, light fixtures, or plumbing issues.
  • Address spills, water leaks, or other urgent cleaning issues immediately.
  • Document and report any items of value or damage found during cleaning
  • Properly maintain and use cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, steam cleaners, and other assigned tools.
  • Ensure cleaning materials are stocked and used according to procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in cleaning, janitorial, or porter roles preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to follow instructions, schedules, and safety procedures.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Professional and neat appearance required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
