Lead Cardiac Sonographer - Springfield Regional Medical Center
Job Summary:
The Lead Cardiac Sonographer supervises the department which performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. The testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists in overseeing, scheduling, and coordinating the sonographers of vascular department.
  • Interview, terminate and conduct job performance reviews for associates.
  • Input data for associates time and attendance, including making any changes needed in the time keeping system.
  • Perform all essential job functions of a Registered Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Demonstrates ability to proficiently perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
  • On call hours required.

Education:
  • Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred)

Licensure/Certification:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (required)
  • Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations:
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
    • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Experience:
  • One year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (required)
  • Two years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred)
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred)
  • Picture archiving communication system (PACS) experience (preferred)
