Job description

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of patient safety initiatives
  • Partnering with clinical, operational, and analytic teams to identify barriers to safe and effective care
  • Supporting patient safety activities across organizational priorities and defined pillars
  • Contributing to strategies that improve patient safety outcomes for members
  • Works with clinical intervention teams to conduct clinical reviews, chart abstraction activities, medical record reviews, and evidence reviews to support patient safety initiatives
  • Designs and supports studies to identify opportunities for patient safety improvement and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Ensures that study methodology is sound and appropriate reporting is in place
  • Develops recommendations to support patient safety improvement activities and improve the quality and safety of care for members
  • Supports governance, regulatory, accreditation, and compliance activities related to patient safety programs
  • Maintains effective documentation of research programs, review activities, and patient safety initiatives to meet regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Assures patient safety activities are relevant to targeted populations and aligned with organizational priorities
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to support implementation of patient safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
  • Oversees accurate and complete quantitative analysis of clinical data and presentation of results
  • Contributes recommendations to improve intervention effectiveness, measurement accuracy, and patient safety outcomes
Requirements
  • Requires a BS in health administration, nursing, public health, health informatics, clinical sciences, or a related clinical field
  • 3 years of healthcare quality, patient safety, clinical review, medical record review, or data analysis experience
  • Current unrestricted license or certification in applicable field preferred (e.g., CPHQ)
  • MS in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing) strongly preferred
  • Experience with CMS Patient Safety programs (HAC Reduction) preferred
  • Knowledge of AHRQ Patient Safety Indicators preferred
  • Familiarity with Leapfrog Group safety measures preferred
  • Strong skills in data‑driven quality improvement, trend analysis, and translating safety data into system‑level action
