Job description

Job Summary:

The Medical Data Entry/Quality Control Assistant will serve as a key point of contact between operations and the laboratory team. Work is highly self-directed, and role may include additional responsibilities such as client communications, internal training and problem solving related to special accounts and compliance. This individual will have completed the necessary training in ordering tests, pre-analytical processing for shipping specimens, and advanced data-entry knowledge. Must have high attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Patient Service Center (PSC) Laboratory Info. Systems Database to ensure proper specimen processing.
  • Understands available resources to fill in for any function within the Data Entry & Quality Control department as necessary
  • Identifies problems and in some cases, may resolve issues with specimen types such as missing information etc.
  • Understands complex relationship between test(s) ordered and specimen received
  • Completes all required documentation, legibly and within the assigned time frame
  • Track quality control metrics and work with leadership team to ensure accurate data entry and high quality sample processing for staff
  • Ensure specimen collections and data entry performed by client and lab staff are informed in a timely manner of any issues that impact patient results
  • Keeping leadership informed in a timely manner of any inconsistencies or problems between the lab or staff that could impact or are not consistent with quality standards
  • Meets standards for production and accuracy within 3 months
  • Validates and verifies orders for other employees and may provide on-going training
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Type/Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position Tuesday - Saturday 6:00am - 3:00pm. Pay range is $20-$21/hour, depending on education and experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer screen
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with both hands constantly throughout the day.
  • Daily tasks involve walking, standing, reaching, lifting, and bending

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred

Work Experience:

  • Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory
  • Previous experience in a production environment preferred
  • PC skills in MS office/Google applications

Other:

  • Communicates effectively with all levels of internal and external staff

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills that fosters a positive attitude at all times
  • Demonstrates flexibility and is able to adapt to changes in work assignments
