Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting with the prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning of athletic injuries as set forth by the National Athletic Trainer Association Board of Certification. Demonstrates competency in taping, strapping, bracing and fitting of athletic equipment and ability to carry out prescribed treatments and recommendations by referring providers. Performs responsibilities as a physician extender in the clinic. Responsible for coverage as assigned at MCHS supported athletic events, at contracted schools/community groups for pre-season events, athletic practices, and/or sporting events. This position delivers preventative care and treatment to athletes within the scope of their licenses. Serves as a liaison of Mayo Clinic Health System to collaborate with schools and the community. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Participates in operational aspects of the department, performance improvement activities within the department and participates in quality improvement projects. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, and organizational safety and fire safety programs.


Qualifications

Bachelor of Science/Arts or Master's degree in Athletic Training and certification by the Board of Certification and National Athletic Trainer's Association. 
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English... Strong computer skills. Strong written and verbal skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology. Basic knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same. Decision-making and problem solving skills. Team-building skills. Flexibility with scheduled days and hours of work. 
Current State of Wisconsin Athletic Trainer license and Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC). Current BLS certification. Driver's License may be required depending on location of hire.
