Job description

Post Doc Research Assistant
City: West Lafayette
Job Description:
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join an NIH-funded research program focused on inhalation toxicology and immunotoxicology, with an emphasis on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of lung disease in susceptible subpopulations. Research in the lab focuses on unique mechanisms of toxicity which occur in prevalent human subpopulations that contribute to susceptibility following exposures. To perform our studies, we integrate cell culture systems and mouse models to investigate particulate matter, engineered nanomaterials, and other environmental pollutants induction of pulmonary injury, immune dysregulation, and lung disease pathogenesis. Ongoing projects involve mechanisms such as lipid signaling, particle-biomolecular interactions, regulation of inflammation, and immune dysfunction. The laboratory utilizes a variety of techniques but uniquely employs cutting edge mass spectrometry approaches to assess biological mechanisms. The overarching goal of the research program is to identify distinct deficiencies in susceptible subpopulations following exposures that can be leveraged for therapeutic benefit.
Candidates must hold a PhD from an accredited institution in toxicology, environmental science, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field, and demonstrate a strong interest in mechanistic toxicology research. Candidates must be highly motivated, passionate about research, and have a desire to be a future leader within the field of toxicology. Experience in cell culture, mouse handling, in vitro/in vivo exposures, and basic molecular biology techniques such as western blot, RT-PCR, flow cytometry, etc. is beneficial. A background in lung biology or immunology is preferred.
Interviews may be conducted virtually and will include a research presentation by the candidate. Interested applicants should upload a curriculum vitae, statement of purpose (no more than 2 pages) and an unofficial transcript to the appropriate link below:
