General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate semiskilled work performing general upkeep and maintenance at Highland Golf Course facilities and grounds and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Golf Operations Director.

Essential Functions
Maintains facilities, grounds, equipment and machinery, including mowing grass, trimming/cutting shrubs and trees, landscaping, and removing trash and debris.
Cleans and services golf course facilities and grounds.
Inspects and maintains equipment, including repairing irrigation systems, mowers, tractors, front end loader, aerifier, and core harvester.
Performs maintenance and upkeep duties daily, including sweeping, cleaning, collecting trash, emptying trash cans, mowing, trimming, and making minor repairs as needed.
Operates various machinery/equipment in the performance of duties, including mowers, tractors, rollers, and other tools/equipment as needed,
Assists with other projects, building, general maintenance needs as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge equipment, machinery, and maintenance used in the trade; working knowledge of the safe operation of tools and equipment; working knowledge of city and department policies and procedures; working knowledge of proper lengths and cutting of grass for golf course; working knowledge of cleaning procedures; strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions; ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment, often under time pressure, and on several tasks at the same time; ability to perform replacements and repairs ability to operate and use standard equipment; ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other departments, supervisors, and the general public.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required. Experience in landscaping, grounds keeping, or golf course maintenance is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting and repetitive motions, frequently requires reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and pushing or pulling; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and exposure to vibration, frequently requires exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus and occasionally requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a very loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, mowers).
Special Requirements
Valid driver's license in the State of Indiana.
Must be available and willing to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Required to wear appropriate work attire, including durable outdoor work clothing and closed-toe shoes or work boots.
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
