Job description

Job Summary:
The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring the safety and security of the facility and property as well as employees and visitors. This position may be responsible for securing gate access; controlling access to the building; making rounds; directing visitors; providing assistance to the public; and responding to alarms. The Security Officer is responsible for responding to incidents and writing corresponding incident reports.

Shift: 32 hours per week. Days may vary. Afternoon or Evening shift 

Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Security guard tours
  • Controlling and monitoring access control systems
  • Generating incident reports and journal entries
  • Directing contractors and visitors
  • Interacting with members of the public
  • Monitoring CCTV
  • Monitoring, answering, and generating emails in a timely manner
  • Software monitoring
  • Respond to emergencies as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of security experience within the past 5 years
  • Good working knowledge of security operations
  • Ability to proficiently use computer applications to write reports, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both in written and verbal form, with a wide variety of customers and government stakeholders
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies or otherwise stressful situations.
  • Must be physically capable of assisting in cases of emergency.
     

Preferred Experience and Education:

  •  Military or National Guard
  • Associate's degree or 60 semester hours of college level course work
  • Completion of a Police Officer's Training Course

Working Environment:
Work takes place in a commercial facility with indoor/ outdoor exposure. May be exposed to various temperatures and weather phenomenon when doing external patrols. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
