Job description

The Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking a Sr. Research Data Analyst. The Sr. Research Data Analyst will build complex data models and conduct complex data analysis in support of research projects, programs, and/or studies. The Sr. Research Data Analyst is responsible for coordination of data and data analysis activities across multiple studies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and maintain a database for study data for multiple studies.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for initial data entry and data updates.
  • Oversee quality control procedures for database and ongoing analysis.
  • Develop data models.
  • Conduct statistical analyses of data collected in this system to support empirical study.
  • Build transmission models.
  • Create and curate software tools across diverse programming languages in support of research efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above
  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure for automated video processing at scale, including coordination of API integrations with external AI vision model providers to support content analysis workflows.
  • Develop and manage data pipelines for collecting, processing, and organizing publicly available social media video data (TikTok platform), including applying AI/ML-based computer vision models to extract structured data from video content.
  • Collaborate with multi-institutional research partners to produce analytical outputs, including engagement metric analyses, sentiment summaries, and coded content reports, in support of study deliverables and publications.
  • Position requires occasional coordination across international time zones due to multi-country study team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • One year of related experience. Require highly specialized advanced knowledge, education and/or training in a specialized field of study to conduct research.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python; experience with cloud computing platforms and REST API integration.
  • Experience with AI/ML model deployment (e.g., Modal or similar platforms); familiarity with social media data environments and large-scale video processing workflows.
