Job description

Position: Data Analyst

Location: Onsite, Kansas City, MO
Position Summary

The Data Analyst supports the Client’s Customer Service Improvement Project (CSIP) by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data that informs grants management, program oversight, monitoring, and decision-making for the Client. This role conducts both quantitative and qualitative analyses, develops repeatable and sustainable analytical products, and supports leadership and program staff through timely, accurate, and well-documented data outputs.

The Data Analyst works closely with the Data Engineer/Data Project Lead, Data Visualization Specialist, and program staff to ensure analyses are methodologically sound, aligned with user needs, and compliant with federal data standards.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to support Head Start grants management, monitoring, and oversight activities.
  • Conduct quantitative analyses using structured datasets and qualitative analyses of narrative documents, forms, applications, and reports.
  • Identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and areas of risk or improvement related to program performance and operations.
  • Prepare high-quality analytical reports, summaries, and data tables to support Regional Office, Central Office, and leadership needs.
  • Support recurring and ad hoc reporting, including management information reports, trend analyses, and leadership briefings.
  • Track, prioritize, and respond to data requests in coordination with project leadership and Client staff.
  • Assist with rapid-turn analyses and short-notice leadership requests.
  • Support implementation of repeatable, sustainable data practices for ongoing and recurring analyses.
  • Work collaboratively with data engineering, visualization, and program teams to align analyses with operational needs.
  • Support data-informed evaluation of workflows and business processes and contribute to improvement recommendations.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, data science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of post-baccalaureate professional experience performing data analysis or related work.
  • 1+ years of experience analyzing quantitative data & synthesizing findings into clear written products.
  • 1+ years of experience with Excel, Python, R, and preferably Smartsheet,
  • 1+ years of experience with SQL, GIS, Data Visualizations, Survey Methodology or Implementation
  • 1+ years of experience with application of AI Tools: GitHub, R, Qualtrics, Tableau or Power BI, ArcGIS
  • 1+ years of experience supporting federal programs or grants management environments; early childhood or Head Start/Early Head Start is preferred.
  • US government-issued security clearance required (will be initiated upon hire)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR check.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple data sources and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience using analytical tools such as Excel and scripting or statistical languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Experience supporting federal programs or grants management environments.
  • Familiarity with qualitative data analysis and review of narrative program documentation.
  • Experience working with data layers, dashboards, or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of early childhood or Head Start programs.
