About the Role

While Everest currently operates primarily within the North American market, we see significant opportunities to expand globally. To support this growth, Everest Re Group, Ltd. ("Everest") is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Data Engineering to help drive the execution of our Global Data Strategy.

This highly visible leadership role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people leadership. Working closely with business stakeholders, you will define, plan, and deliver technology solutions that enable business outcomes and support Everest's long-term strategy.

As a player-coach, you will lead multiple engineering teams while remaining actively engaged in technology strategy, architecture, and execution. You will serve as a key engineering leader across the organization, helping accelerate Everest's data and analytics transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Partner closely with business leaders and internal stakeholders to understand strategic analytics and business intelligence needs, and translate them into technology solutions.

  • Lead technology initiatives that enable meaningful, actionable, data-driven capabilities aligned with business objectives and enterprise strategy.

  • Develop and execute data and analytics technology strategies and roadmaps that support rapid delivery of information management capabilities while aligning with established technology and architecture standards.

  • Define and deliver the data and analytics architecture, tooling, and capabilities required to support a modern cloud-based data ecosystem.

  • 10+ years of experience within the insurance or financial services industry.

  • Experience working within a large multinational organization preferred.

  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Azure technology stack, including:

    • Azure Data Factory (ADF)

    • Databricks

    • Cloud-based data platforms and technologies

  • Strong programming and data engineering experience using:

    • Python

    • SQL

  • Deep understanding of modern data engineering practices, cloud-based architectures, and analytics platforms.

The base salary range for this position is $173,000 - $220,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
