Analytical Chemist, Springfield, OR
Arclin is seeking talent for an Analytical Chemist roleat our Springfield, OR location. This position reports to the R&T Director and plays a critical role in delivering timely, high-quality analytical chemistry support to our R&T, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail combined with excellent analytical reasoning and critical thinking skills. This role requires the ability to consistently generate precise, reliable data to support routine analytical needs, while also exhibiting creativity and technical expertise to develop and execute innovative approaches aimed at investigating root causes and efficiently solving complex and emerging technical challenges.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation, including chromatography, spectroscopy, thermal, and mechanical analysis systems
  • Monitor and validate instrument performance and perform routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Manage inventory to ensure uninterrupted lab operations
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of analytical methods to advance R&T objectives, including contributing to innovative approaches for complex problem-solving
  • Generate clear, accurate analytical reports and maintain detailed, well-organized documentation to ensure data integrity and traceability
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand analytical needs and technical challenges; select appropriate methods and design experiments to deliver reliable, actionable results
  • Work independently on routine and moderately complex analytical challenges, with guidance provided for highly complex or novel problems
  • Apply critical thinking and analytical expertise to interpret data, identify root causes, and support the resolution of complex and novel technical issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in full compliance with Arclin Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies; ensure all equipment is functioning optimally and safely

Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Chemistry or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in an analytical chemical laboratory environment.
  • Experience in the analytical characterization of polymeric materials is strongly preferred
  • Specific experience in the operation and maintenance of LC-MS, GC-MS, microscopy and thermal analysis equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently and communicate clearly in a cross-functional team.
  • Capability to prepare written reports with emphasis on technical clarity, accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in the use of computer software (MS Office, Statistical analysis, etc.)

  • Ability to work with hazardous materials while following Arclin HSE regulations.
  • Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple priorities simultaneously

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
