Job Title:                               Data Analyst

Reports To:                           Data Migration Lead

FLSA Status:                         Exempt

Location:                               Shared Services Office, Irving, TX

Summary:

Project Ignite is a large-scale enterprise transformation program uniting 20+ operating companies onto a single Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Project Operations platform. We are building a deployment factory designed to roll out several entities per year across a tiered portfolio - from common-stack migrations to mid-complexity entities with unique process and integration requirements.

This Data Analyst role will support a multi-wave enterprise transformation program by helping prepare, assess, map, validate, and migrate data for D365 Finance & Operations (PMA) and D365 Project Operations deployments connected via dual-write. This is a role for a candidate with a strong foundation in SQL, solid business or MIS education, and hands-on experience with reporting or analytics tools. The analyst will work alongside Business Systems Analysts, Data Migration Leads, Solution Architects, Integration Engineers, and business stakeholders to translate source data into migration-ready, auditable, and reusable outputs. The role will aid analysis, data mapping, system assessment, and readiness planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Assessment and Deployment Readiness

  • Profile legacy/source data, assessing source-system readiness, and identifying data dependencies, gaps, and quality issues for upcoming deployment waves.
  • Use SQL to extract, join, validate, compare, and reconcile datasets from source systems, staging files, and target structures.
  • Build and maintain source-to-target mapping workbooks, data-quality issue logs, reconciliation workpapers, and extraction inventories.
  • Support repeatable migration playbooks, file-governance standards, naming conventions, and handoff procedures that can scale across multiple OpCos.

Business Process & Requirements

  • Translate business rules, legacy field usage, and entity-specific process differences into clear mapping logic, transformation rules, and documented requirements.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand how source data is created, maintained, and used operationally, then assess fit against target-state requirements.
  • For later go-live waves, own the data workstream for one OpCo covering extraction, analysis, assessment, mapping, offline migration activities, issue resolution follow-up, and stakeholder communication.
  • Contribute to standard templates and reusable practices so that later waves are faster, more consistent, and less dependent on one-off decisions.

Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with BSAs, Solution Architects, Integration Engineers, QA, and business SMEs to support testing, mock conversions, cutover planning, and hypercare activities.
  • Track open issues, risks, assumptions, dependencies, and status updates for assigned scope; escalate blockers early and communicate clearly with affected stakeholders.
  • Coordinate any offline migration activities for the assigned workstream, including file preparation, validation, handoff timing, and business communications.
  • Support UAT and dress-rehearsal cycles by validating data outcomes, tracing defects, documenting findings, and confirming remediation steps.
  • Based on demonstrated capability and program need, the role may also support or own pipelines, ETL procedures, and selected Microsoft Fabric assets or orchestration components used for migration, transformation, or reporting.

Knowledge Transfer & Capability Building

  • Document SQL logic, mapping assumptions, transformation rules, issue resolutions, and repeatable procedures so that future waves can reuse proven approaches.
  • Create and maintain training aids, runbooks, and reference materials for recurring extraction, mapping, validation, and offline migration tasks.
  • Build working familiarity with D365 data entities, data projects/packages, staging concepts, and Power Platform components relevant to reporting, workflow, and integration.
  • Contribute lessons learned after test cycles and deployments to strengthen the program’s internal data-migration capability over time.

How You Will Succeed:

Project Ignite moves fast. We are building a deployment factory that will roll out to several entities per year, which means the decisions you make in the build phase have multiplied impact.
The people who thrive in this program share a few traits:

  • Standardization mindset - you default to the template and document exceptions rather than customizing first, while understanding that operating companies can have different expectations that warrant a documented deviation
  • Bias toward documentation - you treat playbooks and design logs as delivery outputs, not afterthoughts
  • Collaborative but opinionated - you build strong relationships across finance, IT, and SI teams while being willing to push back when requirements threaten repeatability or impact the program timeline
  • Ownership orientation - you follow issues through to resolution rather than handing them off at the boundary of your role
  • Comfortable with ambiguity - this is a standing-up phase; not everything will be defined, and you will help define it

Other Duties:

  • Regular, consistent and necessary communication to meet the needs of the business
  • Assists the leadership team and other team members with various research projects and/or special projects
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Must conduct self in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner at all times
  • Must adhere to the policies, principles, and guidance within the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct

Education/Experience
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Business, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a closely related field
  • 5-8 years of experience in ERP business analysis, financial systems, or finance operations - we prioritize D365 F&O depth over years
  • SQL Experience is a must have, Fabric or PowerBI experience is nice to have
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations PMA strongly preferred, with direct involvement in at least one full-cycle implementation or major module rollout
  • Experience participating in UAT, data validation, or cutover activities on an ERP implementation; comfortable working in an agile delivery model with sprint-based deliverables
  • Preferred: experience with D365 Project Operations or project-based billing; exposure to multi-entity deployments; familiarity with Power BI or financial reporting tools; data migration concepts in D365
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
