Job description

The main responsibility of a Tutor is to help students learn, review content, explain how to solve problems and check completed homework. Tutors also help students develop study skills and habits as well as organizational techniques to improve their academic performance. This may be done in on-to one or small group settings.

Tutors keep reports on students and share those reports with the Site Supervisor as well as with parents and teachers. These reports are also shared between staff at weekly staff meetings during agenda time when individual student's progress is being discussed. Additionally, tutors are responsible for assisting in the facilitation of groups, providing discipline and serving as role models for appropriate behavior and dress.

Tutors must always have a positive attitude and demonstrate creative ways to motivate students who become frustrated by material they find challenging. Tutors must be willing to learn skills in facilitating groups that focus on the social and emotional developmental needs of students as well as developing and facilitating workshops that address the personal and interpersonal needs of the students.
