Job description

High 5, Inc. is a community-based, non-profit organization that makes a meaningful difference in lives by offering superior after-school, athletic, aquatic, and recreational programs that enhance physical, mental, and spiritual well-being for children, teens, athletes, adults, and those with special needs. High 5, Inc. is where the community comes together to play, learn, meet, compete, explore, enjoy, bond, and connect with families, friends, and new faces. There’s always something new to love and someone new to meet.

Position Summary:

The After-school Site Leader is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean off-site High 5 location, ensuring a high level of quality programming experience and establishing strong, meaningful relationships between program participants, their families and amongst High 5 staff. The After-school Site Leader must exhibit strong leadership skills and be committed to modeling and reinforcing High 5’s mission and core values, while adhering to all High 5 policies and procedures. The After-school Site Leader oversees up to ten After-school counselors and reports directly to and closely collaborates with the High 5 Regional Director to ensure regulatory compliance and budget driven goals are being met at each individual off-site High 5 location.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent service to all students, families, co-workers, and school administration
  • Create and maintain a welcoming, caring and professional environment for all
  • Meet the physical, emotional and educational needs of the children in their care
  • Work in a team environment, build and maintain healthy, cooperative relationships
  • Communicate positively and effectively with the Regional Director
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures both organizationally and departmentally
  • Ensure that all children are always respectful of High 5’s and the school facilities and property
  • Counsel and educate children in a positive manner which contributes to mature and responsible behavior
  • Complete all High 5 and federal and state governmental training by assigned deadlines
  • Implement the curriculum and schedule provided daily and provide feedback
  • Attend and participate in weekly meetings with the Regional Director
  • Conduct mandated monthly safety drills
  • Maintain DCF licensing binder
  • Supervise, train, and recruit staff to meet ratios per Child Licensing
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate School Readiness Sign In/Sign Out (SISO) sheets and submitting to Member Services before set deadlines
  • Responsible for ensuring all incident reports are completed, Parents and Regional Director are notified, and a physical report is submitted within 24 hours of event

Qualifications:

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age (Required)
  • Complete DCF 40 hours of Childcare Training (Required)
  • Complete 12 hours of School Readiness Training (Required)
  • Satisfactory Level 2 Background Check (Required)
  • CPR & First Aid Certified (Required)

  • Must commit to model, reinforce and abide by the High 5’s mission, core values, policies and procedures

  • Build positive, meaningful and caring relationships with parents, children and High 5 staff
  • Attend all meetings pertinent to this position and participate in external events throughout the year (i.e. family engagement nights, High 5 fundraisers, etc.)
  • Maintain and support all procedures that ensure the safety of children, parents and staff
  • Oversee and participate in the cleaning and maintaining of facilities, equipment and all areas used; assist in setting up and breaking down activities
  • Arrive on time, and to wear High 5 Uniform to each shift
  • Employees are expected to keep all required certifications current (i.e. First Aid, CPR, AED, Child Licensing Training, etc.)
  • Communicates all concerns to the Regional Director immediately
