Job description

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
Since 1991, Emerald Youth Foundation has worked to support Knoxville's youth and prepare generations of Godly community leaders. Emerald Youth has engaged more than 30,000 children and young adults in a variety of community programs over nearly three decades. Every year, Emerald Youth serves more than 3,000 children, teens and young adults in the heart of Knoxville through faith, learning and health programs.
JOB SUMMARY:
Drivers will use Emerald Youth Foundation vehicles primarily for afterschool pick-ups, summer day camp transportation, and/or transportation to and from sporting events as part of Emerald Youth's different youth ministries. Position could also include extended field trips and other trips as needed. Position ensures passenger safety, reports issues, and is responsible for awareness of routes and general vehicle upkeep.
Schedule/Pay
  • Typically, Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. during the school year. Hours might be extended on some days periodically due to the type of trip needed
  • Typically, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. during the summer months. Available weekend hours would vary.
  • Additional hours with sports may be available from time-to-time.
  • Pay is $20/hour for driving time, $12/hour for sitting time too.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Drive regular routes on a schedule.
  • Aware of routes, traffic patterns, and adherence to traffic laws.
  • Manage passengers to ensure safety.
  • Answer questions about schedules, routes, and transfer points.
  • Report accidents or other traffic disruptions to supervisor and follow directions when using an alternate route.
  • Assist those passengers with disabilities or requiring assistance.
  • Check the bus tires, lights, and oil and do other basic maintenance.
  • Follow state and federal transit regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards.
  • At least 21 years of age with clear driving record.
  • Must have current CDL with P-endorsement.
  • Three or more years' experience driving a route
  • Willingness to work extended field trips, overnight events, and weekend trips multiple times throughout the year
  • Experience in an urban setting ideal
  • Ministry experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
