Job description

Schedule/Hours: M - F 1:30 pm - 6 pm - 25 hours a week
This position is responsible for:
Supervises children, implements activities, maintains classroom environment, ensures children's safety, establishes a positive environment for children and families. Provides transportation for children to and from activities, including after-school pick-up.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists, instructs, and evaluates children in the academic areas in which they are weak so they may better understand and perform the skills in those areas.
  • Conducts individual and group tutoring sessions with students; prepares various reports documenting the student's progress and shares the same with parents and others as necessary.
  • Supervises children in the playground and plans activities the children can enjoy while outdoors, plans and coordinates sports activities as well as arts and crafts.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Works is performed in a normal classroom or office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
  • Work requires occasional travel to schools which may involve exposure to changes in weather and/or heavy traffic.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED AND
  • One year experience teaching school aged basic academics OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid State Driver's License.
First Aid and CPR certification.
45-hour DCF required school age training.
