Job Description: GED instructor of Yoakum County Family Literacy
(Must have a Bachelor's Degree; Texas Teaching Certificate preferred)
  • Help YCFL staff to enroll students during the first week of school and at specific times to be determined by the YCFL director throughout the year.
  • Administer diagnostic tests to adult learners as required by Region 17 Adult Education after students enroll in program.
  • After testing, set up a program of study for each student using classroom materials and the Aztec computer program in the classroom and computer lab to facilitate the study of the 2014 GED Test content areas which are: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Math Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Encourage ongoing participation of students by classroom activities, parties, phone calls and personal visits as needed to motivate, challenge, and ultimately inspire student achievement.
  • Attend all adult education in-service opportunities as required by Region 17 Adult Education.
  • Assist the YCFL director as needed in scheduling outside speakers from the community for special programs for all YCFL students.
  • Assist all staff and students in the planning of fund-raising events.
  • Complete end of year testing and evaluation for each student.
  • Collaborate with the YCFL director and any other GED teachers of the program to plan and organize a GED graduation at the end of the year.
  • Complete all paperwork, test results, etc. and send in to the Adult Education office in Lubbock at the end of the school year.
