Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the After School Care (ASC) supervisor, the After School Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the program for students in grades 1st–6th during after school hours. The Leader ensures a safe, engaging, and supportive environment, coordinates staff and activities, and fosters positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree.
- 1 year experience working with children ages 6-12 years old in a youth program, afterschool program, or related setting. – OR
- Combination of education and relevant experience in child development, social services, or a similar field is acceptable.
- Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work outside normal business hours, if necessary.
- Must be able to understand, read/ write in English to follow basic instructions, and take, direction from supervisors and clients.
- Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with Virtus/Safe Environment policies.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
- Able to work all shifts and extended hours.
- Must reside on Oahu.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or instructional role within youth programs.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds in multi-age environments.
- Strong organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills.

- Experience to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; strong organization skills; handling multiple tasks and projects, and good judgement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Student Care (60%)
- Receive students after school and ensure safe transitions.
- Take daily attendance and maintain accurate records.
- Distribute snacks to students.
- Assist with organizing and managing the student pick-up line (auto-line).
- Ensure students safely and efficiently transition from the care area to parents or guardians.
- Monitor and maintain order during dismissal times.
- Communicate with parents and staff to facilitate smooth student pick-up.
- Address any concerns or issues that arise during the auto-line process promptly.
- Program Facilitation (15%)
- Supervise study time, assisting students as needed.
- Organize and lead games and activities for students.
- Supervise free play, ensuring safety and positive interactions.
- Equipment & Physical Activity (15%)
- Distribute and store equipment and materials as needed.
- Walk the play area to supervise and ensure student safety.
- Performs other related duties as assigned (10%)
- Serves as community relations liaison for company.
- Actively participates as an effective member of the team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
- Assist with seasonal peaks.
