Primary Purpose:
The Assistant Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher with the organization and implementation of daily program activities.
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Certified teaching experience Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Assist participants with homework assistance and/or tutoring.
  2. Attend regularly scheduled program staff meetings.
  3. Communicate with parents regarding issues involving discipline.
  4. Monitor the safety of all program participants.
  5. Assist with the organization and implementation of parent/child activities.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)
Environment: Requires some district-wide travel and occasional Saturday events/activities
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, in oral and written form, in English and/or Spanish,
effective management, public relations, and maintain emotional control under stress Other Information:
Work Days: Monday through Friday (Program Scheduled August - May)
Work Hours: 4:00 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.
