Position Summary:
Villanova University, in collaboration with the North Penn School District, is launching an Afterschool Artificial Intelligence (AI) Club at local elementary schools as part of an NSF-supported outreach initiative. The program will bring together K-12 teachers, engineering students, and AI professionals to mentor elementary students (grades 1-6) as they explore how AI can be used to solve real-world challenges.
The club will run January 2026 - June 2026, meeting two to three afternoons per week after school in Lansdale, PA.
We are seeking K-12 teachers to serve as mentors and facilitators for the Afterschool AI Club. Teacher mentors will work alongside Villanova faculty and AI experts to plan and co-lead engaging, age-appropriate learning activities. They will play a critical role in supporting student teams as they develop creative AI-enabled projects for submission to the Presidential AI Challenge.
This position offers teachers an opportunity to gain exposure to AI education, collaborate with university and industry mentors, and help shape an innovative STEM learning experience that integrates technology, creativity, and ethics.
This is a part-time, hourly position (approximately 5-10 hours per week, January 2026 - June 2026). Looking to hire up to 2 individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Co-develop and facilitate after-school AI Club sessions (two to three afternoons per week).
  • Collaborate with Villanova faculty and AI experts to adapt materials for age-appropriate learning.
  • Provide classroom management and guidance to maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Support student teams in project planning, documentation, and presentation development.
  • Participate in planning and reflection meetings with mentors and the PI.
  • Assist with the organization of a local AI Showcase and related outreach events.
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Work Experience
  • Current K-12 teacher in the North Penn School District or surrounding area.
  • Demonstrated experience in lesson planning, classroom management, and student engagement.

Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Other:
  • Availability for afterschool hours (typically between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m.) two to three days per week.

Preferred Qualifications:
Work Experience
  • Experience in after-school or enrichment program facilitation.

  • Interest in STEM or technology integration in the classroom.
