Auto/Light Truck Service Technician

American Fleet Services โ€“ Independence, OH 44131

American Fleet Services is seeking a self-starting, take-charge individual for our growing Service Center Team. This driven individual will be responsible for automotive and light truck repair.

Position Job Duties:

  • Safety โ€“ Always perform work safely, safety is a priority at AFS.
  • Organization โ€“ Always maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Preventive Maintenance โ€“ working knowledge of the entire vehicle with the ability to seek out component failure or the potential for component failure per manufacturers specifications.
  • Brakes โ€“ working knowledge of brake system operations and the understanding of all components & systems to inspect, test and repair.
  • Steering and Suspension โ€“ working knowledge of steering components & systems, suspension systems, and the understanding of alignment requirements.
  • Drivetrain โ€“ working knowledge of all drivetrain components & systems and the ability to inspect, test and repair defective components.
  • Electrical and Electronic Systems โ€“ working knowledge of basic and advanced circuits & systems.
  • Heating ventilation and A/C โ€“ working knowledge of engine heating and cooling characteristics, good working knowledge of refrigerant properties, strong electrical ability with the ability to inspect, test and repair defective components.
  • Diesel and Gasoline Engines โ€“ working knowledge of combustion principals, knowledge of all internal components, assemblies and their functions with the ability to inspect, test, and repair all necessary operating components & systems

Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess an upbeat, professional attitude. You must have the desire to work as part of a team to reach company objectives and the ambition to succeed and grow with the company. The role demands that you be a self-starter who works well under minimal supervision after the initial training period.

Additional qualifications include:

  • 3+ Years Experience
  • Must have the basic tool requirements to perform the assign job responsibilities to include hand tools, toolbox and air tools, etc.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and repair equipment
  • Bonus Qualifications: ASE Certifications, Factory Ford, Chrysler, and GM Training/Certifications
  • Valid drives license with no more than two (2) minor driving violations within a three (3) year period, no more than a maximum of four (4) points and must be insurable with AFS' current insurance provider.
  • Must submit to and successfully comply with AFS' "Pre-Check" background check and pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
