Job description

Position: Residential Direct Support Professional
Location: Developmental Disabilities Program; Georgetown, Delaware
Availability of Position: Immediately 
Schedule: Full-time; Overnight Shifts and every other weekend
Salary and Grade: $18.50 per hour

Position Overview:  This position is a non-exempt position with the responsibility for support to persons with developmental disabilities residing in residential program in Georgetown, DE.


Description of Position:  Assists individuals with developmental disabilities in becoming more independent and engaged in activities in the local community. 


Requirements:  

  • Minimum requirement of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Experience should include supports to people with a range of Developmental Disabilities, including individuals with dual  diagnoses and physical injuries.
  • Position requires a positive attitude toward the abilities of individuals with disabilities.
  • Good communication skills and the desire to engage people in activities that meet their interests and broaden their horizons.
  • You must be able to successfully complete clearance required by the Joseph R. Biden II and the Child Protection Act. - Child Protection Clearances DE.C 1142 & 1146, Chapter 11 of Title 16 of the Delaware Code, requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: DE Child Abuse History Clearance, DE State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check, Drug Testing and TB Screenings.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
