Affinity Health Center seeks a full time Patient Access Specialist to provide excellent customer service to patients; answer shared calls on agency call center; schedule patients for appointments; verify insurance and collect copays; collaborate with coworkers across the organization to provide patient centered care.
Starting Pay Range: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review the upcoming patient schedule, call patients to verify insurance coverage, ensure patient information (i.e., phone, address, etc.) is up to date
  • Verify insurance and whenever appropriate, verify patient insurance is active and understand coverage benefits and limitations
  • Communicate with patients regarding confirming appointment, personal details, collection of data, and demographic information.
  • Confirm and schedule patient appointments, process insurance copays and payments on outstanding bills
  • Complete pre-intake documentation for patients accurately and efficiently
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to promote patient-centered care
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patients (in-person and through the call center) in a professional and compassionate manner

Preferred Requirements:
  • Certification as a Medical Office Assistant or Medical Assistant
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish
  • Experience verifying insurance coverage and collecting copayments required.

Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of medical office experience in a primary care practice.
  • Professional experience using technology such as Email, Microsoft Office Suites, Data Management, and/or Point of Sale systems
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including working in the evening, working at organizational satellite sites, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with insurance processes and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Reliable transportation
