Job description

Firehawk Aerospace is a leading propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company located in Addison, TX. Our innovative approach empowers us to design and manufacture cutting-edge solid and hybrid rocket motors and engines. We aim to push the boundaries of propulsion technology to serve both commercial and defense sectors.

This position will be full-time located at our Addison, TX facilities with occasional travel required (approximately 20-35%)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with a team in developing and testing advanced propulsion technologies.
  • Designing and operating rocket engine test stands for our solid rocket motors and hybrid engines.
  • Conduct test planning, execution, and posttest analysis of projects related to solid and hybrid rocket motors.
  • Perform systemlevel troubleshooting and maintenance of test stand equipment and hardware.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure alignment of test efforts with program and company objectives.
  • Directly engaged in daily test operations, maintenance, and construction activities in the field with travel to test sites up to 25%.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience of testing within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Familiarity with solid rocket motor or hybrid/liquid rocket engine test setups, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in test planning (to include test plans and test readiness reviews) and execution.
  • Proficiency in analyzing test data and generating technical reports.
  • Experience with pressure, temperature, and thrust measurement systems.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fastpaced R&D environment.
  • Excellent problemsolving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of testing within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Proficiency in data acquisition setup and troubleshooting, and instrumentation selection, operation and calibration.
  • Experience design and buildout of test facilities including data acquisition, control systems, and facility layouts.
  • Familiarity with aerospace testing standards (e.g., MILSTD, ASTM, AIAA) and regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures for handling hazardous materials (e.g., propellants, oxidizers).
  • Experience in development and qualification test campaigns.
  • ITAR Requirements:

    To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, standing for extended amounts of time, climbing, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
