JOB SUMMARY
GMRE is currently seeking a Technical Writer to support the Engineering Team at the GMRE HQ located in South Ogden, UT. The position will be responsible for all activities related to planning, creating, editing, and authoring Technical Orders, Manuals and Publications for DoD customers.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and revise Technical Orders (TOs), Technical Manuals, and Time Compliance Technical Orders
  • Coordinate with engineers, logisticians, and subject matter experts in generating technical instructions for new systems
  • Incorporate engineering changes and verify technical accuracy
  • Produce publication packages in accordance with Air Force and DoD standards
  • Participate in technical reviews and quality assurance
  • Support configuration management and quality reviews

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 5 + years of related experience.
  • Background in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical documentation and/or hands-on experience in an aerospace maintenance field.
  • Experience with military technical manuals or Technical Orders.
  • Proven experience with S1000D, SGML or XML authoring software, AborText, Illustrator, and technical publications development processes within an Interactive Technical Manual (IETM) environment.

SECURITY CLEARANCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to obtain an active U.S. SECRET clearance and be subject to a government security investigation.
  • Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver's license is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.

TRAVEL REQUIRED
  • Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for meetings, trainings, installations and/or site visits.
