The selected candidate(s) will serve as the Lead Systems Engineer for the GeoXO Spacecraft, directly supporting the Observatory Manager.**Work Model****This is a full-time position based at Goddard Spaceflight Center, Greenbelt, MD. with an expectation of at least 4 days onsite per week.****What You’ll Be Doing*** Support technical documentation changes (ICDs, specifications, test procedures)* Provide space vehicle systems engineering support* Coordinate and prioritize support from a variety of discipline engineers (e.g. electrical, mechanical)* Work proactively and autonomously with program office and contractor personnel as well as members of Aerospace’s engineering group* Assess prime contractor activities and provide insight to customers on space vehicle ability to meet requirements* Support system-level requirements verification and validation* Participate in integration and test activities* Contribute to key reviews and technical meetings* Assist in risk identification and mitigation planning and execution of mitigations* Accomplish regular reporting to customers and Aerospace senior management on programmatic and technical elements of task execution, with focus on results and their impact on the problem(s)**What You Need to be Successful***Minimum Requirements:** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in engineering, science, or equivalent technical discipline* 12+ years of experience in spacecraft/instrument systems engineering, mission operations, or program/project management for spaceborne missions* Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve high-impact technical issues for government customers* Demonstrated effective formation and leadership of collaborative work teams composed of contributors from diverse sources, backgrounds, and locations* Experience with instrument integration, especially coordinating S/C accommodation and interfaces* Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of contractors, customers, and corporate staff* Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically approximately 10%**How You Can Stand Out***It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:** A master’s or advanced degree in a relevant field* Experience coordinating subject matter experts supporting multiple projects* Experience working with Firm Fixed Price space system development contracts* Experience coordinating spacecraft activities with contractor-provided mission integration, mission operations, and/or launch integration* Programmatic, operational and/or engineering experience with NASA/NOAA partnerships* Existing positive relationship(s) with project managers and/or engineers at NASA/GSFC or NOAA/NESDIS* Working knowledge of Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) skills and capabilitiesWe offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.
