JOB SUMMARY

The Purchasing Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for managing the procurement department personnel, sourcing strategies, and all day-to-day purchasing activities in support of supply chain and operations requirements. The ideal candidate is technically adept, thrives in a dynamic environment and is comfortable balancing both tactical and strategic responsibilities. Strong communication, data-driven decision making, and process ownership are essential to success.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to meet schedule, cost, and quality objectives
  • Support business goals and drive department KPI’s.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of procure-to-pay activities, including RFQ’s, supplier selection, negotiations, PO placement, delivery management, and invoice resolution.
  • Lead and manage a direct team, including performance management and talent development
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments including but not limited to Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Production to support sourcing decisions and resolve supply-related issues
  • Manage the supplier base through performance metrics, qualification activities, risk assessments, status meetings, and corrective actions.
  • Support the development, implementation, and compliance of purchasing policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and FAA

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of procurement experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environments, with at least 3 years of management or leadership experience
  • Have an excellent understanding of metal commodities, machining, milling, fabrication, casting, forging, and outside treatment processes pertaining to the manufacturing of aerospace parts and components.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, manuals, specifications, and BOMs
  • Strong technical analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proven negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills
  • Experience sourcing specialized components, machined parts, or advanced materials
  • Strong ERP experience: Global Shop and or Epicor preferred
  • Ability to work on-site
