Description

Janicki Industries is a private and family-owned business based in Washington State with a Layton, Utah, facility. The Layton Utah facility specializes in machining the largest most complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets.The parts produced are installed on todays most advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles. Janicki Industries continues to lead the market with both innovations and abilities alike. If you want to drive continuous improvements on long-term production programs or challenge your abilities to start up new projects in rapid development, there is no shortage of diversity in work. At Janicki, we work on complex parts and assemblies for aerospace and space exploration markets. We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our growing team.

This position is located on-site in Layton, Utah.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The following essential job functions are performed by the Project Engineer:

  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in project development of manufacturing plans, schedules, and quality plans.
  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports
  • Review customers purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are met
  • Complete Inspection Plans in conjunction with Project Planning and in coordination with Project Management
  • Verify compliance to codes, standards and customer contracts
  • Performs in process and final inspections on customer ordered projects as necessary
  • Organize and monitor Corrective Actions, assist to evaluate and determine Root Cause and Corrective Action Plans
  • Must be able to comply with Safety, 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap Standards and Practices
  • Develops detailed Production Build Plan packages based upon customer process specifications and engineering drawings
  • Maintains heightened awareness of the project schedule for each project as it moves through the value stream in order to meet key project deadlines
  • Facilitates communication and consultation with Program Management, Operations, QA and HR
  • Assists in the execution of a project plan, including the development of Work Orders, materials procurement and organization, preparation of schedules and budgets, and various other project activities
  • Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
  • Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

Project Management:

  • Develops and executes high level and detailed project plans, including managing schedules and budgets
  • Works directly with the customer to determine detailed requirements and deliverables, communicates or presents to customer on project status or health
  • Actively engages customers and internal teams to ensure progress on all stages of project lifecycle
  • Communicates, consults with, and participates in design and manufacturing support activities
  • Facilitates communication and consultation with production; oversees manufacturing in collaboration with project engineers
  • Completes and understands all quality requirements for projects
  • Enforces 5S and AS9100 Standards and Practices throughout all work performed
  • Develops and maintains a positive strategic relationship with customers to sustain ongoing work and uncover new opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field is required
  • 4+ years of experience preferable in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities. Must be able to lead a team of engineers to create and execute complex objectives in the manufacturing of products
  • Experience with CATIA and NX or equivalent CAD software is a plus
  • Proficiency with SAP ERP Software is preferred
  • Experience with complex machining in a manufacturing environment, or working within aerospace projects is preferred
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Focus, self-motivation and initiative is a must
  • Organizational skills to support management of multiple tasks and activities

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Salary range for this role is between$83,000 - $145,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
